20 FUN ACTIVITIES TO DO WITH YOUR KIDS AT HOME

Without imagination, the activities that you do with your kids can get old quickly.  And when they do, your child gets bored even quicker, which can lead to acting out or getting into stuff.  That’s why I did some research and came up with a list of 20 fun activities to do with your kids at home.

Part of being able to Parent with Confidence is having a plan.  Having a plan means listing several activities to do to keep your child busy.

I should mention that these are all activities that you can do with your child for less than $20 dollars and in most cases for no money at all!  In fact, you probably have what you need for the activities already.  

How does that sound? 

Does it sound too good to be true? Well, it’s not.

20 FUN ACTIVITIES TO DO WITH YOUR KIDS AT HOME

  1. Make Slime – You can find slime recipes all over the internet or in stores.  See on Amazon
  2. Pillow Fight – Couch pillows, pillows off your bed.  No pillow is off limits!
  3. Crafts – If you can’t think of what to do, then do a craft for the next nearest holiday.  See on Amazon
  4. Build a Fort – All you need are sheets, blankets, pillows, and furniture.  Be creative!
  5. Play Hide-n-Seek – What kid doesn’t like to play this classic game? Hide anywhere in the house. 
  6. Picnic in house or backyard – Get your blanket, basket and enjoy! 
  7. Legos – Pick out a few different Lego kits from the store and take the time to build it with your child.  See on Amazon
  8. Tea Party – All you need are some teacups and a teapot.  (Hint) They can be imaginary.  See on Amazon
  9. Color – Grab a few coloring books or blank pieces of paper and let you and your child create some cool artwork.
  10. Play with Barbies/Cars – Where is Barbie going today? Who is she going with? Or how long is the car race? Don’t forget to fill your cars up with gas.20 Fun Activities To Do With Your Kids At Home
  11. Make Playdough – If you don’t want to make it you can buy it.  Playdoh has several kits.  
  12. Climb the Human Tree (smaller kids) – Let your child climb on your shoulder while you are sitting and yell “Timber” as you fall over.
  13. Board games – So many board games, so little time.  Everyone pick their favorite one.  See on Amazon
  14. Movie Night and Dress Up – Get your popcorn ready, movie, and let your child dress up as their favorite character.  You can join in on the fun too.  
  15. Sleepover – You and your kids grab your sleeping bags, tell stories and sleep in a room that’s not yours.  
  16. Camping indoor/outdoor at home – This is really good if you have a small tent to put up.  Make some camping snacks (S’mores).
  17. Play Video Games – Play your child’s favorite game with them for more than just 10 mins.  This is a good way to bond and see what kind of games they are playing.  
  18. Model Plane or Car – Build a model plan or car.  I enjoyed doing this when I was younger. You can find these at a craft store or also See on Amazon
  19. Indoor Treasure Hunt – design a little map and have clues spread throughout the house or yard.  See on Amazon
  20. Sing-a-long Concert – play your child’s favorite play songs and let them sing along and perform like they are a world-class performer.  Don’t forget to join in too mom or dad.
